Another contender for mantle of the tallest building in the world launched in Jeddah

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has unveiled plans for Kingdom City, which will feature as its centrepiece a 1km tower promised to be the tallest in the world.




Just a week after Nakheel unveiled plans to build the world鈥檚 tallest structure in Dubai, the Saudi Arabian royal family have said they will build one taller in Jeddah.

Kingdom City will be built across 1750 acres in the north of Jeddah and will have 23 million m2 of buildings for the use of up to 80,000 residents.

We are extremely delighted at the unveiling of the designs and plans of KHC鈥檚 iconic Kingdom City and Kingdom Tower projects in the city of Jeddah by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz鈥

The Kingdom Tower will be a mixed-use developent more than 1km tall, including five-star hotel accommodation, office space and luxury homes. The developers have not given the building鈥檚 final height, saying only that it will be the world鈥檚 tallest structure when complete.
