Keltbray is understood to be in pole position for the enabling works package which will kick off construction at Skanska鈥檚 20 Ropemaker scheme in the City of London.

The firm, which missed out on the 拢40m piling and enabling works contract to a team led by Erith at Sellar鈥檚 Paddington Square development earlier this month, is set to start work on the 拢12m deal this spring.

Erith, along with Getjar and J Coffey, who both bid the Cube deal as well, are understood to be the firms that look set to miss out.

Skanska was appointed preferred bidder on the 27-storey scheme (pictured) just before Christmas.

The firm beat Sir Robert McAlpine and Multiplex to the 拢150m deal which has been designed by Make Architects with the building鈥檚 reception, which doubles as a bar, to be built opposite the entrance to Moorgate station with planned retail units set to be built on Finsbury Pavement.

Developer on the job is Old Park Lane Management and CORE. It will include around 415,000 sq ft of office space.

The stepped tower will feature five roof terraces and be 128m tall at its highest point.

Consultants on the scheme include QS WT Partnership, structural engineer Waterman and services engineer Hilson Moran.
