Southwark Easter event is branded demeaning for job seekers

Licences to work on building sites are to be included in an Easter egg job hunt at a JobCentre Plus in south east London.

The hunt, which has been branded humiliating, will see around 150 job seekers hunt out 35 chocolate eggs hidden in a JobCentre Plus office in Southwark on Wednesday. Finding an egg will result in a prize which could be anything from shopping vouchers to buy clothes for interviews to payment for a license to work on a building site.

Other prizes include standard job application forms. The hunt has come under criticism for being demeaning. The Metro reported one job seeker saying: 鈥淪ome of us are not proud of signing on and this just rubs our face in it.鈥�

The JobCentre Plus office involved has defended the hunt saying it was meant as a bit of fun.
