DLUHC ministerial team depleted after sacking and multiple resignations
Michael Gove has been sacked as housing secretary, as the exodus from beleaguered Boris Johnson鈥檚 government continues.
The housing secretary was sacked this evening amid reports he had earlier told the prime minister it was time to stand down.
Gove鈥檚 departure follows the resignation earlier today of housing minister Stuart Andrew, along with five other Department of Levelling Up Housing & Communities Ministers; levelling up communities and equalities minister Kemi Badenoch, levelling up minister Neil O鈥橞rien, and parliamentary private secretaries Duncan Baker, Jacob Young and Danny Kruger.
Eddie Hughes, rough sleeping and housing minister, building safety minister Lord Stephen Greenhalgh and minister for refugees Lord Richard Harrington remain in post as it stands.
Gove made headlines as housing secretary by ditching the bulk of predecessor Robert Jenrick鈥檚 planning reforms, publishing the levelling up white paper, steering the 黑洞社区 Safety Act through parliament and securing a pledge from housebuilders to carry out fire remediation works on blocks over 11m in height.
