Engineering consultancy that worked on the Athletes Village has become independent after management buyout

Hilson Moran, a multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy, has become independent after the management of the company agreed a deal with Altran UK to return ownership of the company to the directors of the business.

Hilson Moran was acquired by Altran UK, a subsidiary of the Paris-based Altran Technologies S.A, in 2002.

The deal has been funded with the assistance of Albion Ventures, a major private equity business.

The firm, ranked 18th in 黑洞社区 magazine鈥檚 Top 100 Engineers survey and named the 15th fastest growing construction company in the UK, achieved a growth in turnover of more than 20% last year and employs more than 200 staff.

Hilson Moran worked on the 鈥楪herkin鈥, at 30 St Mary鈥檚 Axe in London, and is currently working on other high profile projects in the city, including the 鈥榃alkie Talkie鈥 on 20 Fenchurch Street, Hammerson鈥檚 Principal Place and The Pinnacle, as well as the Athletes Village for the London 2012 Olympics.

Chris Plummer, Hilson Moran managing director, said renewed independence would give the firm 鈥渢he agility and autonomy to respond quickly to a changing market and clients鈥 evolving needs鈥.

He said: 鈥淲e are focused on continuing to provide long-term support to clients in the UK and internationally.

鈥淪upported by a dedicated and highly experienced management team, we are in a strong position despite the difficult market conditions.鈥
