Highways England is now known as National Highways

Harris, who has been interim chief executive since February, had his appointment finalised by the organisation鈥檚 chair Dipesh Shah yesterday 鈥 the same day it also announced it will no longer be known as Highways England.

Harris joined Highways England in 2016 and was the organisation鈥檚 executive director of operations before taking up the interim role. He replaces Jim O鈥橲ullivan.

The company鈥檚 rebrand, which will see it become known as National Highways, comes just six years after its most recent name change.

Before 2015 it was the Highways Agency.

A spokesperson for the organisation said the new name reflected the new focus the company has on delivering the government鈥檚 拢27bn strategic roads investment programme, while also continuing to set highways standards for the whole of the UK.
