Materials group Hanson will integrate concrete blocks specialist Thermalite into its 黑洞社区 Products UK division.
黑洞社区 materials group Hanson has bought concrete blocks specialist Thermalite from Belgian rival Etex Group SA for 拢120m.
Thermalite and its 390-strong staff will be integrated into Hanson鈥檚 黑洞社区 Products UK division, which expanded recently with the 拢65m purchase of Marshalls Clay Products in January.
Hanson chief executive Alan Murray said: 鈥淭his acquisition is consistent with our successful strategy of growth through bolt-ons and further enhances our position in one of our core markets.鈥�
David Szymanski, managing director of the building services division, added: 鈥淭hermalite is a natural fit with our existing block operations and we look forward to additional opportunities to develop additional production capacity in the UK market.鈥�
Thermalite annual production is more than 1m cubic metres of aircrete blocks and it operates out of offices in Newbury, West Thurrock and Sutton Coldfield.
