Design for the 'crumpled tin can' towers has been signed off by council despite strong local opposition
The controversial plans for a Frank Gehry designed development on Hove seafront have ovecome the final hurdle.
Section 106 agreements on the 拢290m scheme to replace the existing King Alfred鈥檚 sport centre have been agreed, so the Council has signed off its investment.
Council leader Brian Oxley said: "As this development has already been given landlord's consent and conditional planning approval I'm anxious to see that the city gets the best possible package of benefits out of this valuable site."
Plans for the scheme came up against fierce local opposition but Ruth Kelly gave it the go-ahead on May.
The 鈥榗rumpled tin can鈥� towers will feature 750 homes, a sports centre, shops, a police station, GP surgery, cafes and restaurants.
