Contractors appointed to work on utility鈥檚 investment programme over the next five years
Galliford Try and Costain have been appointed to a series of frameworks for Southern Water worth hundreds of millions of pounds.
Galliford Try, working in a joint venture with engineer Imtech and supported by Atkins, has been appointed to work on the utility鈥檚 water supply and wastewater treatment processes on a contract worth up to 拢250m.
The firm will also work with Morrison Utility Services in a joint venture supported by Aecom to deliver upgrades to water supply and wastewater pipes and pumping stations on a contract worth up to 拢180m.
Rival contractor Costain has also been appointed to deliver around 拢200m of upgrade work for Southern Water in a joint venture with engineer MWH.
The contracts will run from 2015 to 2020, which is known as the AMP6 regulated spending period in the water sector.
Both Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try, and Andrew Wyllie, chief executive of Costain, said they were 鈥渄elighted鈥� to have been appointed.
