Luxury hotel scheme built on floating platforms accused of being an 'illegal incursion' into Spanish waters

A luxury hotel development in Gibraltar designed by Foster + Partners has been accused of being built on 鈥渟tolen land鈥 by a group of Spanish MPs.

Sovereign Bay, a cluster of tall buildings and a marina, is to be built on 380,000m2 of floating platforms. Spain, which lays claim to the British colony of Gibraltar, argues that the project constitutes an 鈥渋llegal incursion鈥 into Spanish waters.

Jose Ignacio Landaluce, a Spanish MP, has launched a campaign to the EU against the proposals. He told the Daily Telegraph: 鈥淔irst they stole the Rock from us, now they're robbing us again.鈥
