Tony Douglas is frustrated at not being given more responsibility, according to Guardian
Tony Douglas, the chief operating officer of Laing O'Rourke, is poised to leave the company, the Guardian reports.
Without quoting sources, the newspaper said Douglas had become frustrated at not being given more responsibility at the company after being tipped to take over from Ray O鈥橰ourke when he joined two years ago.
The story added that 200 managers could also leave the firm as part of a restructuring process that is understood to be underway.
The business will reportedly be reorganised to focus on higher-growth sectors, such as education, waste, energy and transport.
A Laing O'Rourke spokesman said: 鈥淭ony Douglas and Ray O'Rourke continue to enjoy a first-class working relationship and to suggest otherwise is wholly wrong. We have a strong business which is focused on delivering for our clients and dealing with the current economic turbulence."
"Laing O'Rourke's success to date is built on delivery, and the entire senior team is at one in maintaining that focus.鈥
