Countryside Properties has won a contract worth 拢55m to oversee the regeneration of Radcliffe, near Bolton in Lancashire.

It has been appointed by Bury council to lead the work on Sun Quarter, a mixed-use development including 330 apartments and 55,000ft2 of retail space and affordable housing, a 6,210ft2 gallery, a bus station, market, waterside cafe and car park.

The housebuilder will work with property consultants King Sturge and UK Land and Property on the residential and retail aspects. Barry Holmes, director of regeneration for Countryside Properties, said: 鈥淭he aim is to create a mixed-use town centre community with emphasis on open spaces.鈥

Wayne Campbell, leader of Bury council, said: 鈥淭his new development will achieve the council鈥檚 ambitions of delivering a better choice of quality housing and improving town centres and neighbourhoods.鈥

Countryside, which specialises in new communities and urban regeneration, has an annual turnover of more than 拢400m and employs 800 people. It operates mainly in London and the Thames Gateway, the south-east, east and north-west of England.
