Consultant reports 16% turnover increase thanks to major contracts including Glamorgan scheme
Consultant Capita Symonds鈥� parent company the Capita Group has reported a strong performance in 2008.
In the year ended 31 December 2008, turnover increased by 18% to 拢2,441m, underlying operating profit rose by 18% to 拢320.9m and underlying pre tax profits increased by 16% to 拢277.2m.
Capita Symonds played a key part in these results, with turnover increasing by 16% to 拢284.2m compared to 拢244.6m in 2007.
Key developments include the Glamorgan scheme which saw Capita Symonds signing a 拢75m, 15 year joint venture with Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Councils to deliver highways, transportation, engineering, construction, environmental and related projects across the local authorities and the rest of South Wales.
The firm also won a 拢70m contract with Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council for a 10 year strategic partnership to deliver a wide range of property and highway services.
It also completed a number of acquisitions in 2008 including the land planning consultancy Lovejoy, structural engineering consultancy NRM Bobrowski, and building services engineering consultancy Pearce Buckle.
