BDP director Adrian Price said the new Brent Cross, owned by Hammerson and Standard Life, would have 750 flats and leisure facilities, possibly including an IMAX cinema.
He said: "The whole idea is to create a traditional town centre. It's linked very closely to the redevelopment of Cricklewood to the south."
Architect Allies and Morrison is masterplanning the Cricklewood site. The proposals envisage 5000 homes, open spaces and a mainline railway station between Cricklewood and Hendon.
Architect HTA is masterplanning a 2170-home sustainable community in West Hendon.
The masterplan for the whole area has been handled by EDAW for Barnet council. The scheme was out to community consultation last week and will go to planning in the second half of next year, with work due to start in 2006.
