Alastair Lyons arrives from Admiral Group to take up roles of deputy chairman and senior independent director

Bovis Homes has appointed Alastair Lyons as independent non-executive deputy chairman.

Lyons, who will also take up the role of senior independent director, is currently non-executive chairman of motor insurance company Admiral Group.

He was previously chief executive of the National & Provincial building society and the National Provident Institution, and was a main board director of Abbey National.

Bovis Homes chairman Malcolm Harris said: 鈥淭his appointment further strengthens the board's capabilities and completes the board structure announced at the end of 2007."

Lyons holds 15,000 ordinary shares in Bovis.
