BDP-designed 拢22m school for children aged three-years old to 16 opens in Bradford

Architect BDP鈥檚 Appleton Academy in Bradford has opened for the new school year.

The 拢22m academy, built by contractor FMP, replaces two existing schools with one new all through 3-16 academy for 1,300 pupils.

The design of the academy aims to create a learning continuum from nursery to sixth form, with learning phases interlinked seamlessly through a single circular building around a landscaped garden.

Learners grow clockwise around the circle with the building stepping up in scale as they progress.

The BDP design team utilised BIM throughout the entire design process.
