Recent contracts wins in America include a New Hampshire prison, army accommodation, a casino and a hurricane resistant tower in Florida
Balfour Beatty鈥檚 US arm has announced 拢550m worth of new contracts.
Heery International has won a design and build contract for a 1,200-inmate prison in Berlin, New Hampshire. The scheme, which also includes housing, education and health facilities, will take around three years to build.
Balfour Beatty Construction LLC, formerly Centex Construction, has won two contracts for the US army worth about 拢100m, including a 675-home scheme at Fort Jackson in South Carolina and a 158-unit scheme at the US military academy at West Point in New York.
Other recent project announcements include the 拢90m ($180m) Pueblo of Pojoaque resort and casino, 12 miles north of Santa Fe in New Mexico; the $107 million Vanderbilt University Medical Centre in Nashville, Tennessee; and the 拢54m ($140m) 33-storey Atlantic Centre building in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that city's first hurricane-resistant building, comprising Class A office space and a retail and restaurant complex.
Balfour Beatty Chief Executive, Ian Tyler, said he anticipated further growth: 鈥淲e have a strong and growing presence, with annual revenues in excess of 拢1.75bn ($3.5bn), in selected building and infrastructure markets in the US, which offer us a variety of high-quality opportunities.鈥
