Stewart steps down due to ill health, with Ray O鈥橰ourke assuming her responsibilities as CEO

Laing O鈥橰ourke chief executive Anna Stewart has stepped down from the role with immediate effect due to ill health, the firm has said.

In a statement the contracting giant said Ray O鈥橰ourke - the firm鈥檚 founder and executive chairman - will assume Stewart鈥檚 responsibilities as chief executive officer.

Ray O鈥橰ourke said: 鈥淎nna鈥檚 medical treatment makes it impossible to continue with the full range of her extensive work duties and travel commitments.

鈥淚 can confirm that Anna will be continuing with the Laing O鈥橰ourke Group and going forward will support me with a number of important strategic activities, which will be managed around her treatment regime.

鈥淲e, as a Board, extend our very best wishes to Anna for a full and speedy recovery.鈥

Laing O鈥橰ourke said it will not be issuing any further comment or information relating to the announcement.
