Buoyant London and south-east help workloads jump

Google headquarters architect AHMM said the recovering UK economy helped it hike the amount of work it did last time by nearly half.

Revenue at the firm went up 49% to just under 拢27 million in the year to March 2014 while pre-tax profits more than doubled to 拢4.5 million.

In a statement the firm said the increase in turnover 鈥渞eflected a pick-up in development and construction activity, particularly in south-east England鈥.

The firm said it employed 275 people during the period 鈥 an increase of a third on last time 鈥 which saw overall staff wages rocket from 拢8.6 million to 拢12.2 million, meaning the average salary stands at 拢44,500.

The collective pay of the four directors 鈥 Simon Allford (pictured), Jonathan Hall, Paul Monaghan and Peter Morris 鈥 topped the 拢1 million mark, up from the 拢453,000 they shared in 2013. The salary of the highest paid director, who is not named, stood at 拢268,000.

AHMM, which is the architect behind the new office for 黑洞社区 publisher UBM at 240 Blackfriars Road, said it had completed moving into larger offices at its existing Old Street base during the period.
