Five make 拢80m Bergen shortlist

A British team featuring this year鈥檚 Stirling Prize winner AHMM and Haptic has been shortlisted for a new university building in Norway.

The 拢80 million scheme at the coastal city of Bergen will be a research facility for the local university and will cover 18,000sq m.

Haptic has offices in London and Oslo and has already carried out a number of schemes in Norway. Director Tomas Stokke said of the scheme: 鈥淭he site and programme is unique and challenging.鈥

Other members of the team include Edinburgh landscape architect Gross Max and engineer Buro Happold.

Called the Energy and Technology building, the university wants it to be Norway鈥檚 leading centre for energy research.

The AHMM bid is up against four others including ones led by HLM, Danish practice Henning Larsen, Oslo firm LPO and another Danish practice, Arkitema.
