Matthew Williams, a 21-year-old electrician from Somerset was won the 2009 ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award.

Williams, an electrician with P&R Hurt, was the unanimous choice of the judges and wins a cheque for 拢1000 from Edmundson Electrical, a European study tour courtesy of Legrand and an electrician鈥檚 testing kit from Robin.

P&R Hurt runs a training centre as well as an electrical contracting business. His employer applauded Matthew鈥檚 skills, attention to detail, problem solving and customer liaison.

鈥淭his is the 22nd time I鈥檝e hosted this Award,鈥� said Edmundson Electrical鈥檚 md Douglas McNair, 鈥渁nd this is the most challenging business environment in those 22 years. It is encouraging that the ECA and its members continue to invest in the lifeblood of this vital industry.鈥�
