Housebuilder sells 4,595 home over past year, as prices also increase
Housbuilder Bellway sold 4,595 homes over the last 12 months, an increase of 5% from the previous year, with prices rising too.
Bellway, the country鈥檚 fourth largest housebuilder by volume, updated the market on its sales today. In the statement, it revealed that it sold 4,595 homes in the 12 months up to 31 July 2010 (2009: 4,380), an increase of 5%. The average sales price was 拢163,000, up from 拢154,005 in 2009.
It said that the market has returned to its traditional profile this year, with a spring peak followed by a quiet summer. It added that if the autumn market follows in tradition then its current order book of 拢421m could help it achieve growth in the financial year 2010-2011 of up to 10%.
Meanwhile it is continuing to buy land, focusing in the South, but 鈥渂eginning to see more opportunities鈥 in the north. The firm has 拢66m in cash.
Bellway鈥檚 preliminary results are due on 19 October.
