£140m PFI cancer centre in Leeds helps it take monthly title – and consolidate lead in annual table

Bovis Lend Lease was the top contractor in October, winning three contracts worth a total of £171m. The biggest was a £140m PFI cancer centre at St James’ hospital in Leeds.

The firm also won a £30m contract to build a four-star hotel at London Bridge in the capital.

Sir Robert McAlpine was close behind, winning four projects together worth £158m. The largest were a shopping centre at Princesshay in Exeter, and a sports and entertainment arena at the Millennium Dome, both worth £70m.

Kier moved up to fourth place in the annual league after winning projects worth £132m in October.

There was no change at the top in the other tables, with numbers one and two remaining the same as last month.
