In London there is still confusion over the London ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø Act and the national ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø Regulations.

The ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø Act 1984 applied a uniform system of building control over the country, bringing to an end the Inner London Regulation and their supervisors, the "district surveyors".

Yet some aspects of the London ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø Act are still active, for which application still needs to be made. These should be reviewed and rolled up into the new Part B for use across the country.

All of the country's authorities now use the term BCO for their building control officers, with the exception of a few in the depths of inner London where traditions are hard to update, and the term DS is still wrongly used by the architect and council staff.
