I read with interest the article “That holiday feeling” (20 April, page 62).

The introduction of the European Working Time Directive appears to have been a genuine attempt to give paid holidays to, among others, agency workers. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be working out quite like that. A number of agencies, when pressed, say that the hourly rate is inclusive of holiday pay and show it as a separate percentage on pay slips. The result? No improved conditions, the rules circumvented and no change to the old system.
