Nick Raynsford’s comment that “there are enlightened employers who are doing their utmost to maintain skills development” (5 June, page 28) will no doubt provoke the cry, “That’s easy for him to say!”
That is probably true; but it does not mean he’s not right. Consider … when England or Manchester United loses their Saturday game you won’t see Capello or Ferguson reducing the investment in the player’s development.
The enlightened know that the people that got you into a mess, will be the same people that will get you out. They have lived the mistakes – a little reflection will make sure they turn things around.
